I love rock. I love just about everything. Except rap (I can listen to old school) and country. Sorry.

As a musician myself, I love listening big band and jazz music, and nobody does it like Maynard Ferguson.

This album is second in a series of six, all released in the 1970′s, except for the sixth, which was released in May 2007. MF Horn is a mix of the jazz – rock – fusion that was starting to grow about that time.

This album sounds so good, it just blows me away. Not just that it’s on vinyl, but the production and the musicianship is just amazing. Maynard can scream on a trumpet like a banshee on crack.

Some of the songs are covers, such as The Beatles ‘Hey Jude,’ the Theme from Shaft, and ‘Spinning Wheel’ by another great jazz rock band, Blood, Sweat & Tears.

Take a listen to this, it is ‘Give it One,’ the first track on the album;

/**/

href="http://www.musicstack.com/show.cgi?aid=classicvinylrecord&currency=USD&find=maynard+ferguson">Maynard Ferguson at MusicStack, then click on M.F. Horn Two under popular albums by Maynard Ferguson.

Unfortunately, Maynard Ferguson died late last year on August 23rd, 2006. He was born on May 4th, 1928. Which means that he recorded his last album when he was 78 years old. Thats just crazy. In his amazing career, he had 69 albums. Unbelievable. He also has many movie soundtrack credits, including The Ten Commandments (the original with Charlton Heston).
